1)What is the name of the Current Novel you are reading?

"Point Blanc" by Anthony Horowitz

2)What is the "basic idea" of the story (min 3 paragraphs) - please remember i have not read the story , provide me with a basic understanding of the novel.

Basically my book, "Point Blanc" is about a 14 year old boy named Alex Rider who is a spy for MI6. Alex Rider is a regular school boy and lives a regular life. He is asked my MI6 to investigate a case in which rich business men are getting killed for unkown reasons.

Investigations into the accidental deaths of two of the world's most powerful men have just revealed one link. Both men had sons attending Point Blanc Academy- an exclusive school for rebellious rich kids, run by headmaster Dr. Grief. The school is located on a high mountain peak in the French Alps.

Cut off from the world, Alex Rider only has his student id and disguised gadgets to help him find out the truth of what really is going on at Point Blanc.

3)In the current novel your reading are their any gender stereotypes or symbols you have picked up on . Please explain


No not so far. The book is pretty straightforward and doesn't touch or relate to gender stereotypes.

4)What if ALL the characters in your current novel were male.? Please explain how that would affect the novel .

If all character in my novel were male then the story would be completely different. They novel won't be as interesting and everyting would change because of it.

5)What is ALL the characters in your current novel were female? Please explain how that would affect the novel.

If all the characters in my novel were female the story would not be as good as it is. The setting would change and so would the outcome.

6)Please provide the definition of SYMBOLISM in your own words.

In my own words, symbolism is defined as the use of symbols to represent different things such as emotions feeling ect.

Spanking bad for the brain

I chose this topic because this is a very common thing that parents are doing to kids nowadays. They are spanking them for things they have done and as the article said it is depriving them from their "learning oppurtunities". Spanking I think in my opinion can be used to teach a kid right from wrong but if used too much can damage them mentally. I think this issue was such a big issue in 2009 because as the study show, children are being affected in the long run by being spanked.

How the government spends "our money"

I chose this topic because many people nowadays have been feeling the economic strain. The recession might not be in full effect as it was before but many people are still loosing jobs on the daily and struggling to find work. I think that this governor is completely right. All the money should be focused on the American people and helping the economy. Volcano monitoring is not that important and should be last on the list to receive any money. I think this article was a big issue in the past year because many people are getting fed up of the government spending and investing their money in all the wrong areas and not helping them out.

Our ancestor, 'Ida?'

I chose this topic because me and so many others have always wondered who our first ancestor was. Last year, scientists found a 47 million yr old fossil and dubbed it 'Ida'. Scientists are debating over how to interpret the remains and say that some of her features could redraw the evolutionary tree of life. I think that this is amazing that scientist could go so far back and find fossils from so long ago of out ancestors. This article was a major issue of 2009 because scientist finally found our primary ancestor, a fossil that they have been searching for so long.

Fetuses have memory

I chose this topic because I find this article very interesting and different. It's amazing to know that fetuses have very short term memory at such a young age in the womb. I think this article was a major issue in 2009 because when the issue of abortion is brought up this will be brought up as well.

Guggenheim Reflections

At first when we entered the museum, I thought the museum was amazing. The structure of the building was so different which made it so beautiful. Instead of being square or rectangular like all other museums Frank Llyod Wright made the museum circular. As we walked through the museum I wasn't too impressed with the art. The museum out did the art by far. Even though the art wasn't that interesting they were some pieces of art that really attracted my attention. The art pieces were designed by Kadinsky, a very famous artists during the 20th century. The art was very colorful, which made me like it even more. As I walked around the museum I felt a feeling of elevation as we kept walking up the spirals to the top of the building. The railings were so low that as you looked down you felt as if you were about to fall. This was and enhanced effect that Frank Llyod Wright added to his design of the building.

I didnt really expect much before I went on the trip. The video we watched in class was very boring so I thought at the building was going to be boring but once I got their I was in complete amazement. The building was the most beautiful piece of architecture ever built in my opinion. My favorite part of the trip was going into the building and looking up into the atrium.

This trip in my opinion is the best trip we have gone on so far and I am definitely looking foward to visit the Guggenheim Museum sumtime in the near future.
