Somerset Patriots Field Trip Assignment

#2 Journalist

After attending my first official baseball game I can say it was the best experience i've had in a while. Everything was great except the weather which could have been a little better to compliment such a great day. As we approached the stadium I was in awe of how amazing it looked from the outside and couldnt wait to see how it looked on the inside. The inside was just as amazing as the outside.

As we were escorted to our seats the smell of the ballpark was in the air and so was all the vendors selling food. When we arrived the grounds people were tending to the ground wetting it to keep it good for when the ball game started. Some of the players were warming up when we got there; throwing the ball around to loosen their arm for gametime. Sparkee and Slyder came out and got the crowd pumped up for game time. I personally thought they could have done a better job in doing their job but the little kids that were there loved them. They went insane as they came out from the tunnel and came to shake their hands. Also the music was great. They started off with the spongebob theme song, which was great and had the whole stadium singing the song in unison. The little kids were annoying but I have to say they did provide alot of entertainment for us. They went crazy when their favorite songs played which was hilarious. I also enjoyed that after every inning they brought out a fan to play a game and they won prizes which I thought was cool. Some of the games that were played were that the fan chosen had to run to home plate and beat Sparkee to win a prize and there was also musical chairs. These side games deffinitely kept the crowd in the game and the flat screen in the stadium kept us entertained as well. Also, they shot prizes into the the stands for the kids but our section was unlucky to get one. We had one foul ball hit back and Mr. Alvarez dove and got the ball and gave to it this kid which I thought was amazing.

Since we left a bit early we did not get to enjoy the whole experience but it was ok though because we watch 7 out of 9 innings. After I heard the Patriots lost the game 5-2 but I thought they played a good game for the most part. At the stadium I won a Sparkee toy. The game was basketball and I had to make 5 out of 5 shots to get the prize and I got it. Overall I thought this was a fantastic experience and if I was asked to go to another Patriots game I would not hesitate in saying yes. It would be a great night out with family and friends.

It was the biggest game to date. The two opponents sat there sweating because of the intense heat in the room. It was the game of there lives. These two experienced palace players were trying to win the big prize of 50 million in the casino royale. As time passed by, the intense game continued. With numerous thoughts running through their head of what it would be like win the enormous prize, they certainly knew their future was on the line and could be forever changed.
The day had began earlier like this. Both men started there day regular. Getting up for work, showering, brushing their teeth all in an effort to look good for work. The kissed their kids goodbyes and also their wifes and were off to work. This game had been weeks in the planning and many in the town knew about it but when they saw the participants they said nothing. They said nothing in order for the participants to focus and to be ready for the big game on Saturday. At times they were constantly bugged with questions as to what was going to be there strategy. They all tried to avoid the media as much as possible in order to concentrate and remain in focus mode until Saturday night at the Casino Royale. The Casino Royale is a elegant place in which mostly people gamble but also sing, dance, relax and enjoy their spare time. The town in which they lived was alive as they counted down till the big game.
The night was bright and lights filled the casino. Many were outside watching and waiting to see the two finalist appear as they began to enter the casino. The air outside was chilly and the contestants briskly hurried into the casino where they were greeted my a loud applause. Smiles graced their faces but in the back of their minds they knew that in the next 2 hours their lives would be changed forever. They were taken into a lounge where they relaxed for a little and they began to have a brief chat with one another. After about and hour of drinks and refreshments, they made there way into the room where they would play. The dealer allowed them to get comfortable and only a select few were invited to see the game. These were the best palace players in the country and they had practiced for many years to become the best. Playing cards were dealt and the game suddenly began. Both players made there moves strategic hoping to catch the other off guard. They kept on until they both had no more left and suddenly its when they knew they had to dig deep. The prize money was big and they both wanted it. They knew how much it would impact them and others around them.

Children Who Kill !

On Feb 26 a 6 year old boy shot and killed classmate Kayla Rolland at their elementary school in Flint, Michigan.

At the very beginning the son of Derrick Owens, had little or no chance because of the environment he was raised in. Derrick Owens, father of the little boy was sent to jail only when his son was 2 years old. He said that his son was built up of a lot of anger and he says his absence may be the cause of that. The boy grew up in a family that survived on selling crack. After his mother got evicted from her house she sent the boys to their uncles house where he also sold crack. This chaotic environment had a toll on these boys and promoted the idea that having a gun meant that you were powerful and that you were the man. The gun he shot Kayla Rolland with was an unlicensed gun given to the family as a payment for drugs. The little boy was previously suspended and no one thought much of it. It was said that the day before he shot Kayla Rolland they go engaged in a heated arguement.

I personally think, that this is a very sad issue. We can't do much to help children who are born and raised in these types on environments. Its not their fault their not getting the love and care they need at such a young age. Also, I think the parents are also to blame for not paying attention to their son and his well being.
